What is a Conveyancer?

What is a conveyancer, why you need one and who chooses one?

A Conveyancing attorney (aka a conveyancing solicitor) is one of the most important people in the home-buying process and is responsible for ensuring that ownership is transferred from the seller to the buyer, and that the buyer does not pay until the property is registered in his or her name.

In South Africa, traditionally the seller is allowed to choose the Conveyancer, who will then represent him in the deal, even though the buyer is paying for the Conveyances services.

Drawing up of all legal documents

These important documents will include all necessary details to meet legal regulations in your state or territory.

Legal advice

A Conveyancer or Solicitor will also undertake a good portion of the legal leg work needed to help you make the right decisions and navigate this process successfully.

Arranging Settlement

One of the major roles of any Solicitor or Conveyance is to help arrange the final details of the settlement.
